Standard Scrapbooking Subjects: Creating The~A Very} Specialized Gift|General Scrapbooking Topics: The Ideal Gift|How To Generate A Special Treat: General Scrapbooking Topics}
Under the umbrella of general scrapbooking topics is making a scrapbook for the perfect gift. If you have been thinking long and hard about what to get someone that already has everything or you wanted to do something special for a special event, making a scrapbook is a personal way to gifting what is sure to become a treasured object.
Making scrapbooks is easy. If the book is for a gift for some event then the topic may have already presented itself obviously. For example, if it is a 50th birthday, you may do a memories book about that person. If the person has had a proud moment happen with a family member, you may want to do that. For example, if their first grandchild just started school you may want to outline their learning up until now.
The collection of photos and images that is chosen for the book is probably the most important element to be included. Use all the detective work you can in order to collect the items you will need. Employ friends and family members. Be sure not to use the original images. Scan then and print them and return the originals to the owner. Personal preference will dictate whether you choose to print them yourself or send them to a printer.
You will then need the materials to make the book. There are many options when it comes to the book itself. You can go to a local craft supply store and buy a book specifically made for the purpose or you might want to get a photo album instead and adapt it to your purpose. You may even reuse an old picture book of your own if you are more inclined to be environmentally friendly. Do not feel you have to be restricted here. Just about any shape or size will do as long as you can nicely arrange the story inside.
The rest of the items necessary can also be found in the craft shop. There are no restrictions here either though. Fee free to use old magazines, newsprint, wrapping and tissue paper, or any other pretty scrap that will fit in. There are numerous hidden treasures to be found at home for free. You do not always have to use card stock.
Some people like to use special scrapbooking cutters but this is not necessary. You can use regular scissors as well as specially edged scissors if you wish. For cutting more difficult patterns, use a ruler and an exact-o knife. Make sure you are careful not to cut yourself.
Take the time to plan out your story before you start. Invest in some artist tape so you can temporarily stick things in place. This will make it easy to make changes along the way if you decide elements will look better placed elsewhere. When you have determined where everything should go, firmly stick them in place so they will not slide or move.
The popularity of scrapbooking has increased in recent years. Do not be overly surprised if you get hooked on it after your first successful project. The act of giving the book to a friend and seeing the reaction of the recipient fills the heart.
