Fender Strat or 72 Tele Deluxe?
I have a near-mint condition mexican fender strat for sale on craigslist, i got offered a 72 Fender Telecaster Deluxe Reissue for trade. Is it a good trade? (i'm not familiar with the tele's pricing). If I were to sell the tele would i make more off it than the strat? (I have the strat up for 400)

If you have the Standard Strat, it probably sold for $499 Both instruments are Mexican made. On paper, the 72 Tele Deluxe might be worth a little more than the Strat but keep this in mind: Used guitars sell for 1/2 of new price...add a little for excellent condition. So the actual "used" value isn't that far apart. Now factor in that the Strat is a popular model and the 72 Tele (with humbuckers) is a niche guitar....not something that's widely sought after. The Tele is only worth more if you can find somebody to buy it...something that the guy making the offer has found out.
I'd say the trade is only a good deal if you actually want to keep the Tele. It's chancy if you're looking for a quick turnaround to make a profit.
