Comic Blender Issue #25---Part Two Double-sized!
Your Best Bet If You Need To Find A Plus Sized Coat
Whenever you hear or see the words, plus sized, what is the very first thought you have? Perhaps most people always think of someone who is large, or too big. Large pieces of clothing, or coats, that have no attractive design or appearance is what probably comes to mind with plus sized coats, or clothing in general. This is because it is only in the last decade and a half or so that designers started paying attention to people who are bigger boned than the average supermodel. Think about it - there is not much difference, really, from the perspective of great design sense, color, styles, and patterns with plus sized clothes. If you need to buy a new coat, then you will have to consider the same factors as anyone else.
Ok, first, you need to know what your body type is. Avoid thinking of your body type as merely being "plus sized" because that's actually incorrect. That's really not true at all when it comes to clothing. Never let anyone tell you plus-size body types don't have different body shapes and types. It matters when you're looking for the right fit with any outer garment; coat, jacket, sport coat, sport jacket, etc. All right, do you know what is meant by apple shaped body type? If so, then find a coat that allows for the accentuation of your shoulders. How about the pear shape, is that you? It that is you, then you'll want to find a cut that does not accentuate your waist. Do you have the Rubenesque hour glass figure? All right, for the hour glass figure you'll do best with a coat that is longer in length and has something in the middle that pulls in.
Is this coat so important that you'll spend a lot on it? If money is tight, we understand, and you can actually find some excellent deals on good plus size coats in thrift shops. Don't worry if your spending budget is small; just find the right places to shop and you're all set. Of course, if you have a larger budget you might think about purchasing a really good "timeless" coat that will look good no matter what the fashion of the time may be. This way you'll still have a good coat next year, even if you don't have the budget to purchase something new.
Assuming style matters to some degree, budgetary constraints may dictate a particular style that has longevity. It's possible that you're not interested to buy new coats every year. Also, try finding coats that will last and are multi-seasonal in construction. You can find plus size coats that can be converted into a warmer coat. They have lighter jackets that get zipped or buttoned over warmer jackets. One possible issue, maybe, is that the warmer insert piece could make you appear larger than you are, so keep that in mind. Just ask yourself what matters most to you and make yourself happy. People are crazy, sort of, and we all view things differently and that includes coats! Are you interested in fashion? You might be concerned only with keeping warm. Are you looking for something that will last ten years? Do you like the more classic styles? Well, it really doesn't matter because you can find all of that stuff in plus sized coats and jackets! This means that shopping for your next coat can be a lot of fun!

Frequently Asked Questions...
Thinking about buying narrow sized cowboy boots, will this stop heel slippage?
I wear a size 12 but have very thin/narrow heels, looking for a pair of cowboy boots that fit correctly. The length is never the issue, its always the boots are too loose and the heel slips. Even after worn several times, it drive me nuts. I do have one pair that I corrected the problem with insoles but was wondering if a narrower boot would give me a tighter fit?
Answer:
in order to get a proper fitting boot you need to have your foot measured. all boot manufacturers have their own molds that they use and are not an industry standard however heel slippage is normal when you first get boots until they break in. a good leather boot will actually shrink and mold to your foot as it gets older and fit like a glove. i wear custom made boots from a company out of Oregon called "Drews boots" look them up online. Olathe makes a great boot as well as Ariat but you first need to try them on to make sure they feel good, remember a cheap boot is just that, a cheap boot.
